Small tree with a good shape.  Great for attracting birds and insects into the garden.  Thorns are quite long but that is good for bird life.

Flowers:  White flowers in spring

Fruit:  Red haws in autumn

Bark:  Smooth grey becoming fissured with age

Leaves:  Deciduous, ovoid with serrated edges, medium green

Autumn colour:  Yellow

Ultimate height:  6m

Requirements:  Sun to semi-shade.  Tolerates heat and frost
