Philip will deliver a talk on Saturday 3rd May. Focused on helping gardeners choose trees that are best suited to the conditions of their specific garden and landscape conditions.
In this talk, he’ll explore the thought process behind choosing the right trees for your garden—focusing on hardy, British grown species that will flourish with minimal effort. Teaching the audience how to select trees suited to our climate and environment, ensuring a beautiful, resilient garden that brings joy through every season. And encouraging them to learn how to stop battling with high-maintenance trees and start planting for success.
Toby’s Garden Festival
Toby’s Garden Festival is an annual horticultural celebration held at the picturesque Powderham Castle near Exeter, Devon. Scheduled for Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd May 2025, this two-day event offers gardening enthusiasts a wealth of experiences. Visitors can look forward to engaging talks from renowned experts, hands-on workshops, live music, and a diverse array of over 180 exhibitors showcasing plants, artisan crafts, and local delicacies. Whether you’re seeking inspiration for your garden, eager to learn new skills, or simply wish to immerse yourself in a vibrant community of plant lovers, Toby’s Garden Festival promises a lovely family day out. About New Wood Trees
We are an artisan tree nursery specialising in field grown multi-stem trees and shrubs. We grow approximately 13,000 trees in the beautiful rolling fields of South Devon and have over 100 varieties for you to choose from.
All our trees are grown in here for at least five years, during which time they are lovingly hand pruned to create a beautifully sculpted distinctive shape and structure. They are all hugely individual and full of character due to their environment and our care. We warmly encourage you to visit our nursery in person.
To immerse yourself and experience the trees in a way that you simply can’t from websites and photographs. You’ll be able to choose your preferred trees, understand their individual character, and tag them in person.
