The is a very hardy species of Pine from Japan.  It has a naturally multi-stem shape which forms a umbrella-shaped crown.  It is not a very large tree, not more than 4 meters high.  So perfect for a smaller garden as well as a small specimen tree which will still give structure to any design during the winter months, as it is evergreen.

Fruit:  Short stemmed cones in clusters

Bark:  Grey, flaky bark.

Leaves:  Evergreen needles in pairs.

Ultimate height:  4m

Uses:  Low maintenance tree with a lovely canopy and as an evergreen it gives structure to the garden in winter.
