Viburnum rhytidophyllum

Leatherleaf/Wrinkled Viburnum

A large evergreen shrub displaying large leaves with a textured and corrugated surface.  It has multiple upright stems with lateral arching twigs and a good floral display. The flowers are followed by bright red berries which turn black with age.


Flowers:  Large, plentiful cymes (large collection of small flowers), creamy white in colour and pungent smell.

Fruit:  Little oval shaped fruit bright red in colour turning jet black with age.

Bark:  Light grey and slightly fissured

Leaves: Evergreen with narrow, elliptical and leathery leaves, very deeply wrinkled

Autumn colour:  N/A

Ultimate height:  4m

Uses: Large evergreen shrub which forms a great umbrella shape through careful pruning
