This maple is grown for its very attractive cinnamon-coloured bark which peels off as it grows. It is deciduous and has a loose open crown which casts a light shade. Very slow growing, it requires little maintenance.
Flowers: Greenish white umbels in May.
Fruit: Red fruits in summer, browning with age.
Leaves: Three lobed with the middle lobe significantly longer. Shiny dark green.
Autumn colour: Bright orange to red.
Ultimate height: 8m
Uses: Acer Griseum makes a beautiful specimen tree, especially in winter with the sun behind it.
