Quercus ilex is an evergreen oak that’s very hardy, being capable of growing in some of the toughest coastal conditions. We grow these to have the potential to be a large, standalone specimen tree, but they’re also very easy to prune if you wish to keep them smaller. They can also work quite well as a year round screen for privacy.
